Introduction to the Dizzy Patient in the Acute Setting
Course Aim
This is a foundation level course aiming to develop clinicians' confidence and competence in managing dizziness in the acute setting. Through spaced learning across four sessions you will gain foundational knowledge, practical skills, and sound clinical reasoning for safe, timely decision-making in acute presentations.
Please note this is NOT a Vestibular Rehabilitation Course. The focus of this course is the decision making and management in the acute presentation.
Learning Outcomes
1. Identify and treat the person with uncomplicated BPPV of the posterior and horizontal canals
2. Identify those with likely Vestibular Neuritis, providing initial Physiotherapy management
3. Screen for red flags that would suggest a central disorder
4. Demonstrate knowledge to advocate for your patient’s ongoing management
